Quick Start

OpenMSI takes the pain out of building Windows Installer packages.

With three quick steps, you’ll have your first *.msi — no deep knowledge or endless documentation needed.

Step 1. Install the CLI

dotnet install openmsi --global

Step 2. Initialize a package project using an embedded template

openmsi init Welcome_LicenseAgreement_Config

Step 3. Review the files and build your *.msi package!

Before building the project, you might want to review the Files property in the generated msi-package.yaml file to make sure the files to be harvested are correct.

openmsi build

That is it! Your installer is ready.
